Value Investing as a principle/philosophy is about buying equities/stock through a process of thorough Fundamental Analysis of a company’s financial position, financial performance, its future prospects and having knowledge of the company’s management, industry and the Economy overall as if one was buying the whole company. Value Investing advocates little attention to stock market temperament, and other events that give rise to speculation. The same principle is applied to Investment Property Asset Acquisitions where a thorough Fundamental Analysis of Income and Expenditure, Future prospects, Quality of tenancy lease agreements, structural & technical are done. Bottom up approach as adopted by PEIL is about thorough Fundamental Analysis of the company, the industry and the economy in that order in relation to stock/equity and selection. Given that the PNG financial markets are not fully developed, available securities are very limited especially in listed stocks and as a result, the market lacks a reasonable level of depth and liquidity. Available investment opportunities in PNG are largely unlisted and venture capital type in nature. PEIL considers it prudent and appropriate to adopt a Value Investing Bottom Up Approach as its Investment Management Style. PEIL is committed to an Active, Disciplined and Structured fundamental approach to stock and asset selection in the case of equities and property as well as an active duration approach to fixed interest securities. This is line with the company’s values being “Managing other peoples money as if it were our own”. PEIL has developed specific Investment Policies and Strategies for individual Funds under its management which complements the stated Investment policy in the Respective Trust Deeds. This enables PEIL to apply a well structured approach to Investment Management of Funds under its management. PEIL is committed to observing and upholding the Australian Investment Managers Association Code of Ethics where applicable to the PNG Market. |
